Is Jesus Really Coming?

We have his word, "Yes!"  He's coming, indeed.  Yet I think we often get lulled to sleep, as if it were only a religious fable.  Yet Jesus' own teaching urges us to think otherwise.

"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes, and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.  It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes."
 - Luke 12:35-37 TNIV

A good portion of Luke 12 marks sober words from Jesus about readiness on our part.  Funny, friends and critics alike of the Christian message express concern for the so-called Buddhist baby, or people who have never heard the gospel.  Yet Jesus expresses concern and a call to action for people who have heard the message, but do not live accordingly.

If we knew our house was about to be broken into, we'd do something about it, right?  If we know Jesus is soon to return, we'd so something about it, right?  We do know.  Be ready.

Joyfully,

Dale
