Enjoy Life, Enjoy God
FRIEND
July 2, 2010
To have a friend, to be a friend is an overlooked grace in 2010. We take friends for granted, at least until they are all gone. But we are someone's friend.
"Greater love has no one that this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because servants do not know their master's business. Instead I have called you friends..." - John 15:13-15 TNIV
Jesus calls us his friend. Not only are we not friendless, but the Lord of the Universe calls us not servants, but friends. Yet friendship, if genuine, if worthwhile, carries some freight.
--Friends love each other.
--That love is sacrificial.
--Love affects how we live, love does the right thing.
--Friends know what servants don't.
Remember today--this is true of Jesus toward you, and is to be true as we relate to Jesus. Lastly, when Jesus jots down a list of his friends, your name is right there on that list.
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
