BIGGER POSSIBILITIES
April 27, 2010
Sometimes our expectations, and what we're used to, blind us to the bigger possibilities before us.
"Do you want to get well?"
"Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."
Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
--John 5:6-9 TNIV
The Pool of Bethesda was said to possess healing properties. If the water swirled, first one in was healed. But this crippled man could never make to the water in time. So when Jesus spoke with him, and asked him the amazing question, "Do you want to get well?" all he could see was his failures, and his inability to plunge into the pool first. But Jesus spoke with him of bigger possibilities, and "at once the man was cured."
We too risk being immersed in a field of too limited possibilities. Jesus showed the man bigger possibilities. How today might you need Jesus, not only to heal you, but simply to see bigger possibilities? Pray he gives you eyes to see.
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
