DISTRACTED
January 7, 2010
His competitors often marvelled at Jack Nicklaus' amazing focus, his concentration. Jack avoided distraction, an amazing key to his success.

King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women...They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods."
- 1 Kings 11:1,2 TNIV

In spite of the great wisdom of Solomon, he proved a fool by ignoring God's counsel about foreign gods, and intermarriage with those who do not worship the Lord. It proved his ruin. His wisdom waned when he was distracted. The distraction may have been alluring; he may have downplayed it, "Ah...no big deal," but he deliberately violated the wisdom given him from God.
To be a Christ-follower, is to be Christ-centered. It's nearly impossible to be Christ-centered, when we are distracted and our focus blurs to other pursuits. "Lord, shape our hearts to be wholly devoted, one hearted on you alone. Amen."
Joyfully,
