Enjoy Life, Enjoy God
ALONE
October 22, 2009
Have you ever felt frustrated or disillusioned? What worked like a charm yesterday, just isn't working today? Been there?
Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
Psalm 60:10 TNIV
David's rise to fame and power took him, seemingly, from shepherd boy to king. Everything he touched turned to gold. His enemies melted in the face of his army. But then in a flicker it changed. And he prays, "Lord, what's up? You used to smile on all I did. But now my armies have been abandoned. I've lost touch with you, O Lord. You no longer are with me; you don't go out with my armies any longer." David cries, and while he is surrounded by people, he is alone.
Three times in the Psalms he says, you "no longer go out with my armies." (44:9; 60:10; 108:11) But he perseveres. He looks forward to the day when he no longer is alone. And in Christ, you can look forward to that day as well.
