JUST AS
October 21, 2009
Much of Christian discipleship, or being a Christ-follower, is in the nature of a simile. It often uses the word, "AS."
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Romans 15:7 TNIV
A simile is a comparison using the words, "like" or "as." "Accept one another...just as..." If Christ embraces the likes of us, then let us do likewise. We have a model in Christ. Doesn't Jesus teach us the nature of forgiveness in the manner we forgive, "just as"--so we will be forgiven. Just as Christ has forgiven our boatload of sin, so forgive your neighbor.
"May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)
